New year, new challenges

What are your plans for 2014?

Have you made a new year's resolution?

Will you give up the ciggies? Try to fit in more exercise? Eat more healthily? Cut down the drinking?

These are probably the most common new year's resolutions. But I don't smoke, I don't drink very much and I exercise regularly, so for me that just leaves the healthy eating thing.

I'm a very strict vegetarian so many would assume I have a fairly good diet, but the truth is I eat waaaay too much chocolate to ever be considered a healthy eater!

When it comes to new year's resolutions there is absolutely no point in me declaring that I'm going to eat less chocolate. It just won't happen. Period.

So my new year's resolution this year is to write more.

I have the sequel to Torn coming out in April called Inviolate and while I'm very excited about that, there's a third book in the series I need to write, as well as a number of other stories in my head clamouring to get out.

Additionally, I have been asked to ghost-write an autobiography for an award winning business woman. I can't reveal any more about that right now, but suffice to say it's a project I'm very much looking forward to getting stuck into.

It's all well and good having a lot on my plate, but finding enough hours in a day is the kicker. All these plans for 2014 have my head spinning.

I expect this year will fly by very quickly.

So, what about you? What are those resolutions?

If, like me, you're hoping to write more why not enter a competition?

I've dropped in a few links for you to check out.

* Eaglehawk Dahlia and Arts Festival Inc 2014 Literary Competition

* Footpath Library Epic! Poetry Competition - this one's for the kids!

* The Writer's Digest Competition Collection - there are a number of competitions here.

Meanwhile, if you're still on holidays, enjoy the moment with a good holiday read. I've recently revisited one of my favourites - Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. This remarkable series starts with Cross Stitch (as it is known here in Australia) and spans through, wow I think it's about seven or eight books.

I'm up to book six and even though I've read the series before, I'm still engrossed. Oh, while I think of it, if you already know about these books you might be interested to know they're making a television series out of them with the delectable Sam Heughan cast as Jamie Fraser.

Wow! I can't wait!!

Bye for now and happy writing.
